Although made of straw and borrowed clothes, a scarecrow appreciates his peaceful, gentle life and the privilege of watching nature at work.

While Henry's parents are at a Sweetheart Dance on Valentine's Day, he and his dog Mudge have a wonderful time staying at Mrs. Hopper's house, where they enjoy tea and music and dressing up in various costumes.

At first Henry's very neat cousin doesn't like the cookies from under his bed or Mudge's slobbery kisses, but when they all play frisbee, she begins to enjoy her visit.

After Mr. Putter buys three goldfish and takes them home, he discovers that his cat Tabby has a serious problem with them.

Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry bring Tabby and Zeke to the library for a special storytime.

When his puppy Mudge gets dirty, Henry has some trouble giving his a bath.

Trying to be neighborly, Mr. Putter decides to serve tea to Mrs. Teaberry's knitting club but chaos ensues when Tabby the cat and Zeke the dog find the party irresistible.
